    On the Move

As if surrounded by a celestial halo, space shuttle Discovery made its way towards the expansive confines of NASA Kennedy Space Center's Vehicle Assembly Building following a move from its processing hangar on Sept. 9, 2010. A metal sling will be carefully connected to the spacecraft and then operators will hoist it from transfer aisle to the high reaches of the 52-story building before lowering it into place beside the external fuel tank and twin solid rocket boosters. Crews then will connect the spacecraft giving the stack its familiar launch day form. Discovery is targeted to liftoff on the 11-day STS-133 mission on Nov. 1 at 4:40 p.m. EDT. Will we learn from this?

Posted by Skip Stone on March 16th, 2009

Recently, while talking to people about the pickle we find ourselves in, the phrase “I hope we learn something from all this.” comes up. Saturday this “phrase” cropped up again. I found myself getting angry. Yeah, angry. I realized that we should of learned the lessons of this situation THE LAST TIME THIS CRAP HAPPENED! Yeah, you remember. The S & L scandal, Junk Bond scandal, both in the ’80s gave us Micheal Milken, Ivan Boesky, Charles Keating, and Neil Bush. That’s right, a BUSH! I’ll tell you what I have learned. Humans when presented with a moral decision will go for the money every damn time. Self interest always wins out over doing the “right” thing. I am sad. Very sad.
