    The sands of time are running out for the central star of this the Hourglass Nebula. With its nuclear fuel exhausted, this brief, spectacular, closing phase of a sun-like star's life occurs as its outer layers are ejected and its core becomes a cooling, fading white dwarf. In 1995, astronomers used the Hubble Space Telescope to make a series of images of planetary nebulae, including the one above. Here, delicate rings of colorful glowing gas (nitrogen-red, hydrogen-green, and oxygen-blue) outline the tenuous walls of the 'hourglass.' The unprecedented sharpness of Hubble's images revealed surprising details of the nebula ejection process and may resolve the outstanding mystery of the variety of complex shapes and symmetries of planetary nebulae. Susan Collins has to go!

OK mainers now is the time to look at what Susan Collins did and didn’t do while the republicans had control of our government. Ms Collins exercised NO oversight over the armed services when she was on the Senate armed services committee. She was also the chair on the Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs. Now she wants you to reward her with another term in the Senate for doing….What? NOTHING! At best she was negligent in the execution of her positions on the armed services and Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs committees. Is that how mainers deal with incompetance? By reelecting people that rubberstamps the actions of an administration that tried to commit a coup to install one party rule in this country? Come on Mainers, lead the country in sweeping away these traitors that tried to and still are corrupting our government. Say NO to Susan Collins in Nov. ’08!
